Basalt
Grey, dark grey or blue grey in appearance the colours in Basalt Tile can fade over time leaving a more dullish shade or a loss of reflection.
These issues can be treated a little easier than Basalts relative to Granite as it is a slightly softer rock and some form of Basalt polishing will usually remedy. Basalt is an igneous rock formed from the cooled lava of a volcano.
Suitable for basalt grinding, basalt honing, basalt polishing, basalt colour enhancement, basalt sealing, basalt scratch removal & basalt etch removal.

Granite
Granite tabletops and kitchen tops are a beautiful focal point of many a kitchen yet over time the shine may dull. A hot pan may leave an impression or chemical damage from cleaning agents over the years can wear the colour down.
Granite is not easy to scratch this way but it can happen. It is often used in chopping boards for this quality. Honing & Polishing Granite can remove scratches and restore your surface and colours can be brought back to life.

Suitable for granite grinding, granite honing, granite polishing, granite colour enhancement, granite sealing, granite scratch removal & granite etch removal.

Ceramic Tile
Some grainy Ceramic tile can pick up a great build up of soil and dirt . Normal mopping often just swills the dirt around and doesn’t penetrate below the upper levels of the tile and a deep clean is needed on the ceramic tile.
To correct this we have a number of methods to restore your tile to new or even better than new, as dirt invariably gets picked up before & during installation. Once back to this brand new condition we can then apply specialist sealers which will reduce the problem of dirt build up and allow for easy maintenance.
Ceramic Tiles are made from sands, clays & minerals which are baked in a kiln around 1000 °C tightening up the stone.
Suitable for ceramic tile cleaning & ceramic tile sealing

Porcelain Tile
Most porcelain tile are smooth and dense which prevents a build up of dirt in the tile itself having an absorption rating of less than 0.5%. However the dirt has to go somewhere and often falls into your grout becoming seemingly engrained.
Using the correct solutions we deep clean porcelain tile and focus at the same time on the surrounding grout bringing the whole area back to life & both are then sealed to make for easy maintenance.
Porcelain Tiles are manufactured from heating the clays of the stone up to 1400 °C and is vitrified in the process. The tiles may be single bodied meaning the surface of the tile is a porcelain layer laid upon a cheaper backing or full-bodied which is the same material throughout.
Suitable for porcelain tile cleaning & porcelain tile sealing

Quarry Tiles
During house moves or renovations ( which often go hand in hand ) we find these tile under old carpet A LOT! Typical of grand old homes often these tiles have lost their ping.
These may require stripping and heavy mechanical deep cleaning of the Quarry Tile. We then set about dressing the Quarry Tile in a variety of fashions making the deep colours rise to the surface or dressing with a matte or satin finish.

Limestone
Limestone like all calcium based stone can have a reflective level of shine. After many years of footfall however this shine can start to wear thin, objects loose their clarity and reflections come blurred or missing altogether.
The mechanical polishing of Limestone can return the surface to or even surpassing it’s original shine and can remove all blemishes.
Limestone is from the sedimentary family of stone and is distinct for the occasional appearance of the shells and fossils that helped form it . If you look closely at the sample photo you may even be able to spot the a small fossil of a fish!

Marble
Being a soft calcium based stone Marble is particularly prone to little splash type marks or coffee cup rings. These ‘etch marks’ are where acids have burned into the Marble stone.
These marks can be honed out, removing the thinnest of slivers from the surface of the stone where the damage has occurred and then polished to it’s original shine via hand or mechanical Marble polishing.
Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from metamorphosized Limestone under great pressure . It is known for it’s veins that run through it and it’s premium levels of shine & reflection.

Sandstone
Typically found in patios, orangeries, kitchen areas and fireplaces Sandstone is a highly porous stone that without a seal can quickly absorb great amounts of soiling. Before long the stone is completely hidden beneath the dirt.
Smooth or riveted a deep mechanical clean can produce truly jaw dropping results. People often forget in no time how it originally looked. Once this is achieved the stone is then protected to help maintain the desired look.
Sandstone is a sedimentary stone formed from tiny rocks and minerals. In some forms of Sandstone you can see tiny little glitter like sparkles which come from the quartz in the mineral content.
Suitable for sandstone cleaning, sandstone stripping, sandstone rust removal, sandstone stain removal, sandstone algae treatment, sandstone sealing, sandstone colour enhancement & sandstone dressing

Amtico / Kardean
Amtico and Karndean are the two most popular types of LVT ( Luxury Vinyl Tile ).
Dirt can build up between the groves along the lay of the tile particularly where pets are involved which can be hard to mop without proper instruction.
It is not an easy surface to scratch as they are very well made, tough and durable but these may happen.
At Barrett’s Stone & Tile Restoration we work for several luxury flooring dealerships ensuring the flooring looks pristine when newly fitted.
We can fully restore previously laid Amtico & Karndean flooring and use Amticos own products to fix scratches & blemishes after having spoken to their representatives to ensure piece of mind & correct methods.
Suitable for amtico cleaning, amtico stripping, amtico scratch removal & amtico dressing, karndean cleaning, karndean stripping, karndean scratch removal & karndean dressing

Slate
Slate comes in many varieties and is predominately used in kitchen/dining areas, hallways & bathrooms thanks to it’s natural water & stain proof qualities (think roof tiles).
This does not mean it cannot or should not be sealed however. Without a seal slate can be prone to rust as it has an iron ore.
Slate is a metamorphic stone, formed underground under high heat or pressure from mud & shale. It is known for its layers which can chip away from each other leaving smooth steps in it’s outer appearance.
Suitable for slate cleaning, slate stripping, slate rust removal, slate sealing, slate colour enhancement & slate dressing

Terazzo
Terrazzo is soup of the chips from other stones, typically marble & granite that have been added together and chemically bonded before polishing to create a dazzling eye catching sight.
